We do weddings all year around. Some big, some small, some in the UK and some abroad. Regardless of how big or small they are, they are all magical for the couple involved. This wedding however one was as magical as they come. Imperial Drummers had the opportunity to entertain at the first ever Indian wedding at Disneyland Paris (Yes we can literally party anywhere). Now when we first got the phone call that we would be playing at Disneyland Paris, we thought it would be a routine gig abroad. Turn up at the station, travel to the destination, play some dhol and come home. This was nothing of the sorts. We arrived at St Pancreas International to be greeted with over three hundred fellow Indians. It was like a mass migration to Paris! Now us Indians love to party, and we love to show people just how much we love to. So where better to start the party than the station itself:

Once on the Eurostar it was no different. Three private carriages, three dhol players and a bunch of party animals – This was only ever going to go one way:

Its fair to say Eurostar won’t be letting Dhol on the their trains again! Now once we arrived, we were greeted with some further musicians and goofy before a large lunch. Since we were in Disneyland, how could we not have spent the day in the parks itself. So, the rest of the day was spent on sunny overcoming his fear of rides (well done pal).An extravagant wedding needs an extravagant bharat; Varun & Co didn’t fail to deliver. We were taken to the front gates of Disneyland Paris where we were about to become part of the one of the most extravagant bharats in history:

And just to add some extra spice to the bharat, they only went and invited the punjabi rockstar – Juggy D to sing a few songs.

Once the Bharaat was over, it was time for the main event. The wedding itself, set in front of a lake behind the Disneyland’s Newport Bay. But you cant have a wedding without a Milni. And well, just like everything else, this was also lavish. With Juggy D hosting the Milnia and one of them turning into a Kabbadi match, it was by far one of the most entertaining Milnia to date!

Onto the Reception…Now a lot of people asked us how they were able to host a wedding at Disneyland Paris and what happened to the guests. But before the evening festivities could commence everyone was allowed to enjoy the fireworks in the main park. If you’ve never seen the fireworks, it’s highly recommended.Once the guests had left the park, Disney’s studio park was to turn into the wedding reception of the year. Filled with table dancing girls, a band from Malta, magicians, giant balls, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and well, us, it was definitely going to be a night to remember – Even I couldn’t help but get involved:

Now the wedding reception was a massive success with non stop dancing, different cuisines of food and even McBhanot’s (Mcdonalds upgraded). All in all it was a fitting end to this fairytale wedding. Here’s a clip of just how insane the reception was:

In typical Indian fashion, the party isn’t over until there’s dhol playing outside and security has to stop us. And we were more than happy to oblige:

On the plus side, at least we got a nice testimonial……

The Verdict

For us, arguable the wedding of the year. Not because we were part of history in the making by being part of the first Indian wedding in Disneyland Paris, but because crowd were great. Complete party animals and theres nothing more satisfying than playing dhol and everyone is off their seats.

The couple

Well what can we say. They definitely enjoyed their wedding and they didn’t hold back. And that’s the best thing. Time and time again we see some couples who understandably, are a bit shy and don’t get into the flow. Not Varun and Anisha – They enjoyed every bit and that’s why they are up there with one of our favourite couples of the year.

The Venue

Well, its fair to say they’ll definitely think twice before they agree to another wedding at Disneyland Paris but overall a great venue. With rooms to accommodate every event (and us Indians have loads), it really does make it a fairytale wedding.
